                            Elementary Principal

I am starting my 30th year in education at Portage Elementary!  I have served in many different roles here over the last 3 decades – 17 years as a classroom teacher (Grades 3, 4 and 6), 6 years as a Dean of Students, 3 years as an Assistant Principal and now starting my 4th year as the elementary principal.

During this time, I have valued the community support our school has received.  They say it takes a village to raise a child and Portage stands behind that.  Adapting to new educational technologies, understanding diverse learning styles, and working closely with families have all been crucial.  It is about creating an inclusive environment where every child feels valued, safe, and motivated to explore their capabilities.  Seeing former students grow into capable, well-rounded individuals is the ultimate reward.

Looking ahead, I am excited to continue fostering a love for learning and inspiring the next generation.  Education is more than just academics; it’s about nurturing curiousity, resilience, and a sense of community.  I also want to be supportive to the students in as many ways as possible.

As the assistant principal of Portage Elementary, I am proud to serve our community and families.  With the start of each school year, opportunities for growth, discovery, and achievement are infinite.  The goal at Portage Elementary is to supply an educational experience for all students through a highly qualified team of professionals and cultivate the foundational educational skills that the students will need to ensure success beyond the elementary school setting.  The students at Portage Elementary are part of an environment that allows them to work to their potential.  The Portage Area School District Is fortunate to have so many families that take part in the educational process of their children.
